The wedding of Katy and Haka at Helmingham Hall in Suffolk was very special for me because Katy is the Wedding Coordinator at Helmingham Hall and I had been lucky enough to work with her in the past at another lovely Helmingham Hall wedding. Few people know this wedding venue better than Katy so the pressure was high but being the wonderfully laid-back couple that Katy and Haka are, they never made me feel that pressure. Instead, we had a huge giggle on the day of their wedding at Helmingham Hall and I laughed so much that most of the time I just felt like I was hanging out with friends!
Helmingham Hall is a breathtaking wedding venue and couples can have a humanist ceremony in the grounds and their reception in either the Coach House, or a hired marquee/tipi. Kindly, Lord and Lady Tollmache who reside in Helmingham Hall, allowed Katy to transform one of their old barns for her wedding reception and wow did she do just that! When I first met Katy at the barn months before her wedding day, the barn at Helmingham Hall looked nothing more than an empty, cobwebbed, bird-nested wooden space with no warmth. On the day of the wedding when I walked into the barn at Helmingham Hall, I was gobsmacked at the transformation! With fairy lights strung from beam to beam, hand carved wooden table place mats and stag antler centerpieces, the once dark and uninviting barn, was now a rustically amazing, warm wedding reception venue.
Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Katy and Haka's wedding day was so wonderfully fun and the two of them are absolutely perfectly matched.
